In detail

How this segment is brokered

The Falcon is one of the most widely deployed electric ROVs in its size band, with a 20+ year track record across commercial inspection, security, defence and scientific operations.

Falcons trade continuously on the secondary market. Buyers value the compact footprint, low operating cost, broad spares availability and the iCON control architecture, which is now the common standard across second hand systems in active circulation.

Pre-owned Falcon fitted with gripstick manipulator

Pre-owned Falcons are typically supplied with the iCON surface control unit (22″ detachable daylight viewable touchscreen) and USB hand controller, a 10m deck cable, a 200m twisted-pair (non-fibre) umbilical and the 300m-rated vehicle fitted with a low-light camera on a tilt unit, two LED lights and auto heading and depth.

Configuration and condition vary by seller. We document the as-built scope, service history and known issues in every Falcon data pack before buyer engagement.

Common add-ons traded with the vehicle include an HD camera, SeaPrince sonar, a field spares kit, a single-function gripstick manipulator and a deployment / recovery running latch.

Larger auxiliaries (USBL, sonars, the EM5 electric manipulator with skid and aux pod, custom umbilical lengths and tether / umbilical reels) can be packaged into the sale or sourced separately to match scope.

Umbilical reel auxiliary supplied with Falcon systems

Dockstr can also broker a used Saab Seaeye Falcon under a lease arrangement rather than full upfront purchase. This gives operators access to a system without funding the full capital cost, with an option to purchase outright at the end of the lease term or return the equipment. The split between upfront contribution and monthly lease is structured around your requirement.

FAQ

Common questions

The standard Saab Seaeye Falcon is rated to 300m, and the Falcon DR to 1000m. We document the depth rating and full specification of each unit in the data pack before buyer engagement.

Most pre-owned Falcons on the market are iCON configured, with the iCON surface control unit and USB hand controller. We also broker pre-iCON systems, and we record the exact configuration of every unit before listing.

Both, though most Falcons are brokered as outright pre-owned purchases. Where circumstances allow, Dockstr may be able to broker a used Falcon under a lease arrangement, subject to the seller and the specifics of the deal. Where it can be structured, a lease gives access to a system without funding the full capital cost, with the option to purchase outright at the end of the term or return the equipment.

Dockstr brokers used Saab Seaeye Falcon ROVs for buyers worldwide, active in 60 plus countries with roughly half our activity in Europe and half across the rest of the world. UK and EU buyers are served alongside the rest of our global network. Submit a buy or sell requirement and we point you to matched Falcons available or coming to market.

It depends first on what is available in the market. Where a matched Falcon is already available we can move quickly, with the balance of the time being logistics, shipping and any refurbishment. Where nothing suitable is available immediately it can take longer. Identifying the right unit is the important part, and that is our job.

Inspection is advised and we arrange it where possible. Depending on the seller and location that may be a physical inspection, or a virtual inspection with photographs, service records and a video walkthrough.
