Others

The Dockstr team brokers used inspection class ROVs across the marine and offshore industries, compact electric systems built for IRM, survey support, aquaculture and shallow subsea inspection. These are built for inspection tasks rather than intervention, at a lower price point and a much smaller deck footprint than a work class spread. We value the equipment first, drawing on our proprietary transaction dataset, then define the pool of qualified buyers based on what is offered for sale. We manage the deal from first engagement through to completion. Talk to our team about a buy or sell requirement.

What we broker

Fleets

Multi vehicle inspection ROV packages from fleet renewal, contract end or survey company divestment.

Single assets

Individual inspection spreads, vehicle with tether, control and topside, ready to mobilise.

Ready or refurbished

Systems available as-is for redeployment, or refurbished before being put back to work.

Parts and spares

Thrusters, cameras, scanning sonars, cP probes, bathymetry sensors, payload bays and more, brokered primarily as part of a spread and package.

Buy-side and sell-side

Two sides of the same desk

Buying

Buying an inspection ROV: specify depth rating, camera and sonar payload, tether length and the deployment vessel for the intended scope of work. We identify options available within the market and beyond.

Selling

Selling an inspection ROV? We take it to a qualified pool of operators, survey contractors and inspection companies worldwide, including buyers outside your usual network. We prepare the data pack, value the asset against recent comparables and current new build lead times, and run the sale through to close.

In detail

How this segment is brokered

Observation class is the visual led, mid water band. Historically the market also called the higher end of this band “inspection class” once the payload added scanning sonars, cP probes and FMD. The vehicles, sellers and buyers are largely the same pool, so Dockstr brokers inspection ROV and observation ROV together.

Step up to light work class, for example the Saab Seaeye Leopard, as soon as the mission needs a manipulator, light tooling or sustained IRM capability.

Pricing on a used inspection ROV is driven mainly by brand, operational status, ownership history and specification. A recognised OEM, a vehicle in current operational condition, a clean ownership chain and a strong sensor and depth specification all lift the number. An unbranded or non operational system, or one with an unclear history, sits well below a documented, deployable spread.

We prepare the sale by gathering the documentation, photos and video needed to market the system effectively, then take it to the right buyers, in particular operators already running similar vehicles or the same brand.

FAQ

Common questions

They overlap. ‘Inspection class ROV’ historically described observation vehicles configured with scanning sonars, cP probes and FMD. The vehicles and buyer pool are largely the same, so we broker inspection ROV and observation ROV on a single desk.

Most stock sits between 300m and 1,000m. Deeper rated underwater inspection ROV systems appear less frequently and price at a premium.

Pipeline and structural survey, offshore wind inspection and O and M, aquaculture net and cage survey, harbour and hull inspection and general IRM. The class covers visual led inspection tasks that do not need a manipulator or heavy tooling.
