Buying
Buy an ROV through Dockstr: tell us the class (mini, observation, inspection class, work class), depth rating, tooling package, budget and timing. We will return matched used ROVs for sale from our global seller network, typically inside 48 hours. Active buy mandate available for off-market search engagement.
Selling
ROV sales handled direct. Whether a single second hand ROV or a full fleet, we onboard the asset, prepare the data pack and run a structured sale to a qualified buyer pool, including operators outside your usual network. ROV thrusters, manipulators and parts also brokered standalone.
In detail
How this segment is brokered
What trades through the ROV desk
Mini ROVs (sometimes marketed as underwater drones); battery and tether-fed systems for aquaculture, ports, harbours, hull inspection and shallow infrastructure. Typical depth ratings 100m to 500m. The Saab Seaeye Falcon sits at the upper end of this band.
Observation class; mid-water visual-led systems for pipeline survey, wind O&M and general inspection. Inspection-class payloads (cameras, scanning sonars, cP probes, FMD) sit within this band.
Light work-class ROVs; electric systems such as the Seaeye Leopard and Cougar, engineered for IRM, wind subsea work, manipulator-led light tooling and shallow construction support without the deck footprint of a heavy WROV.
Heavy work class (WROV); hydraulic Schilling HD-class, FET / Perry XLX, Oceaneering Magnum and equivalent 150 to 250hp+ systems for IRM, drilling support and subsea construction, with full TMS, LARS, HPU and tooling skids.
ROV parts and components: thrusters, manipulators, HPUs, tooling skids and spares brokered individually or alongside the host vehicle.
Heavy WROV system, pre-sale survey.
Pricing, condition and what drives value
Used ROV pricing is driven by operating hours, last major service, the condition of the tether management system and the completeness of the spares package. A WROV with current class, a recent thruster refurb and a complete tooling skid commands a meaningful premium over a stripped vehicle.
We price every asset against recent comparable transactions and current new-build lead times. You see the comparables before the asset goes to market.
Light work-class spread; deck-side condition check.
Buy-side requirements we run regularly
Most active buy-side searches are for observation and inspection-class systems for wind O&M, light work-class spreads (Leopard-class) for IRM and shallow construction, and heavy WROVs for drilling support and deep IRM. We also run search mandates for full ROV fleet packages where an operator is scaling capability.

Scope
Recent and typical brokerage scope
01
Mini ROV package; host vehicle, tether, surface unit and transit case
02
Observation-class ROV with TMS, LARS and control van for wind O&M
03
Saab Seaeye Leopard light work-class spread with TMS and A-frame LARS
04
Schilling HD heavy WROV with 7-function manipulator and full tooling skid
05
Thruster, manipulator and HPU sales as standalone components
System layout
How the spread fits together
A typical ROV spread; control van and HPU topside, A-frame LARS over the side, tether management system in the water column, and the vehicle working off the TMS.
Most new-build enquiries are scoped against this kind of spread; the vehicle is only one component. Where the host vessel does not justify a TMS, the umbilical runs straight to the vehicle.
FAQ
Common questions
What ROV classes do you handle and how do they differ in size?
From smallest to largest: mini ROV, observation (the visual-led band that also covers inspection-class payloads), light work-class (e.g. Saab Seaeye Leopard; electric, IRM-capable, manipulator-led for light tooling) and heavy work class ROV / WROV (e.g. Schilling HD; 150 to 250hp+ hydraulic spreads for IRM, drilling and construction).
Do you broker ROV parts, thrusters and spares separately?
Yes. ROV thrusters for sale, manipulators, HPUs and tooling skids are regularly brokered individually. Submit a buy-side requirement with the make, model and quantity.
Can I buy an ROV off-market without a public listing?
Yes. Off-market sale is the default for high-value assets. We approach the qualified buyer pool directly under NDA; the ROV never appears in a public listing.
Do you broker electric work class ROVs?
Yes. Electric light work class ROVs (Leopard-class and equivalents) are a growing share of brokerage flow, particularly into wind and inspection contractors.
Are TMS and LARS included with a used ROV for sale?
Where the seller offers them. Most full-package sales include TMS and LARS; standalone vehicle sales are also common for buyers replacing only the host system.
Can you value an ROV before I commit to a sale?
Yes. Our valuation desk runs a formal asset appraisal against recent comparables and current new-build replacement; useful for pre-sale, balance sheet or insurance purposes.
Buy-side or sell-side?
Submit your requirement; our brokers will engage the market on your behalf.
