Why a saturation diving system trades via brokerage
A saturation diving system is one of the longest lead, highest capital assets in the subsea market. New build lead times for a complete spread routinely exceed 24 months, and qualified yards are limited. Systems reach the market through DSV sale separations, contractor fleet rationalisation and decommissioning programmes. A classed, ready system draws serious interest, while a unit out of class or needing heavy reactivation or refurbishment is a much harder sell and prices accordingly.
What we coordinate on a sat sale
We document the saturation diving system in full: depth rating, number of divers, chamber configuration, gas handling capacity, last class survey, IMCA D 023 status, hours and history file. We do not run inspection, dismantling, shipping or re installation ourselves, but we can assist through our network where needed.
Sat systems are commonly brokered as separate transactions from the host DSV where the buyer pools differ. We handle the sale of the sat system, and can broker the DSV alongside it through our shipbroker partners, drawing on our knowledge of the diving market.

Common questions
Are saturation diving systems brokered with the host vessel?
Not always. Sat systems and their host DSV often appeal to different buyers, so they are commonly sold as separate transactions. We broker the system, and where a sale with the vessel makes sense we can handle the DSV alongside it through our shipbroker partners.
What condition are used saturation systems typically in when they reach the market?
Condition varies widely. Some reach the market classed, recently surveyed and ready for installation, others have been in lay up, are out of class, or need reactivation or refurbishment before they can work. We document the actual status of each system, last class survey, IMCA status, hours and history, so buyers can price the work involved before committing.
Can a system that has lost class be reactivated, and what does that involve?
Usually yes, subject to survey and the outstanding class conditions. Reactivation can range from recertification of pressure vessels and PVHO work through to replacement of gas, control and life support components, and the scope drives both cost and timeline.
What drives the price of a used saturation diving system?
Class and certification status is the biggest single factor, a classed, ready system commands a strong premium over one needing reactivation. Beyond that, depth rating, diver capacity, chamber configuration, gas capability, the completeness of the spread and current new build lead times all feed into value.
