ROV – New

Dockstr’s new-build portfolio reaches up to light work-class via Ocean Robotics. Heavy WROV and construction-class systems are brokered through the secondary market desk.

Dockstr’s new-build ROV portfolio reaches up to light work-class via Ocean Robotics’ larger variants; engineered for light intervention, manipulator-led work and tooling deployment in the shallow-to-mid-water envelope. Heavy work-class (WROV) and 250hp+ construction-class spreads are not part of the new-equipment line; we broker those through the secondary market desk.

Light Work-Class ROV - what the desk handles

Light work-class via Ocean Robotics

The upper bound of the new-build portfolio; light intervention, manipulator work and tooling deployment in the shallow-to-mid-water envelope.

Heavy work-class via brokerage

Dockstr does not OEM-distribute heavy WROV or 250hp+ construction-class spreads new. The secondary market desk brokers late-life and ex-fleet systems instead.

Honest scope upfront

If the mission genuinely needs a 200hp+ work-class spread, we say so; and route the conversation to brokerage or a partner OEM rather than over-selling a lighter vehicle.

Hybrid routes considered

Often the right answer is a lighter new build for the routine work plus a brokered WROV for the heavier campaigns; we cost both routes side by side.

Buy-side and sell-side

Two sides of the same desk

Buying

For light work-class new builds, specify operating depth, manipulator and tooling requirements, and the deployment vessel. We engage Ocean Robotics and return a full proposal. For heavy work-class needs, the secondary market desk surfaces late-life and ex-fleet WROVs in parallel.

Selling

Two routes in. Manufacturers in this segment evaluating distribution in our regions are welcome to engage the desk. Operators and contractors divesting work-class spreads can list them through the brokerage desk, where used WROVs move regularly.

In detail

How this segment is distributed

Dockstr’s ROV OEM partners, currently including SEAMOR, Rovtech, EPRONS and Ocean Robotics, cover micro, mini, observation and Digital-Class observation comprehensively. Ocean Robotics extends the line into intervention and light work-class through its larger variants.

Heavy work-class (typically 100hp+ WROVs with full TMS, large manipulators and tooling-led missions) and 250hp+ construction-class spreads are not part of the new-equipment portfolio. We do not pretend otherwise; pushing a lighter platform into a heavy work-class mission is the wrong commercial answer for the operator.

Light work-class chassis and buoyancy in build at Ocean Robotics.

Light work-class earns its footprint when the mission needs manipulator work, light tooling deployment or short-duration intervention; but doesn’t justify the deck space, crew, HPU and TMS of a heavy WROV. Shallow-water intervention, nearshore tooling, light decommissioning support and wind farm subsea work often sit in this band.

Ocean Robotics’ larger variants are engineered for this envelope. The build runs through the same OEM distribution route as the rest of the Ocean Robotics range; specification, OEM quote, PO, build, FAT, OEM-managed delivery and SAT.

Pilot station; dual control panels for vehicle and manipulator command.

For genuinely heavy work-class spreads; the kind of vehicle that lives on a DSV and runs IRM, construction support or decommissioning campaigns; new-build is rarely the fastest or most capital-efficient route anyway. Late-life and ex-fleet WROVs come to the secondary market in volume; the brokerage desk can typically surface a credible asset inside weeks rather than the 18-to-24 month new-build cycle.

Dockstr’s brokerage desk handles those engagements directly. The conversation starts the same way as a new-build enquiry; the route just diverges once the mission spec is clear.

Thruster assemblies; the same components underpin new builds and brokered fleets.

FAQ

Common questions

Light work-class only; via Ocean Robotics’ larger variants. Heavy work-class and 250hp+ construction-class spreads are not part of the new-build portfolio.

Our manufacturer partners are SEAMOR, ROVTECH, EPRONS and OCEAN ROBOTICS; none of them build heavy work-class spreads, and we do not represent a heavy WROV OEM. For those requirements brokerage of late-life and ex-fleet systems is the more honest and more capital-efficient route.

The Dockstr brokerage desk. We have active mandates and ongoing visibility across late-life and ex-fleet WROVs in the secondary market; that is typically a faster route to a credible asset than a new build.

Longer than the observation-class builds; quoted against the specific manipulator, tooling and depth-rating scope. Expect a multi-month build window plus FAT and OEM-managed delivery.
