New observation and inspection-class ROV systems across all four Dockstr OEM partners; the SEAMOR Mako and Chinook, the ROVTECH Valor (Digital-Class, high-bandwidth), the EPRONS compact range and the OCEAN ROBOTICS observation line. Observation and inspection share the same platforms; mission, sensor payload and configuration set them apart, and both are the workhorse of the new-build portfolio

Observation & Inspection ROV - what the desk handles

OEM partners

SEAMOR (modular Mako and Chinook), ROVTECH (Digital-Class Valor), EPRONS (compact observation) and OCEAN ROBOTICS (numerous models plus light custom builds). The full Dockstr ROV portfolio is anchored here.

Visual-first systems

Observation-class platforms prioritise HD video, lighting and clean comms over heavy sensor payload; the right tool when the mission is eyes-on.

Dive support & inspection

Used by commercial dive teams for safety oversight, by SAR teams for area survey, and by asset owners for visual inspection of harbours, hulls and shallow infrastructure.

Compact mobilisation

Two-operator deployment from workboat or quayside; no LARS, no dedicated vessel on most configurations.

Buy-side and sell-side

Buying

Specify mission, operating depth and deployment platform. We confirm scope with the OEM and return a configured proposal with sensors, training and spares package.

Selling

Two routes in. Observation-class manufacturers evaluating distribution can engage the desk directly. Operators and independents with surplus observation or inspection vehicles can list them for resale to qualified buyers.

In detail

How this segment is distibuted

Observation-class is where Dockstr’s new-build ROV portfolio is strongest. All four OEM partners build here; that is not an accident. Most commercial ROV missions in the shallow-to-mid-water envelope are visual-led, and observation-class systems deliver the result without the deck footprint, crew or capex of heavier spreads.

Typical use cases: pre-dive safety sweeps, hull and propeller checks, search and recovery, harbour and port visual inspection, wind foundation visual checks, ocean science training, ROV operator entry-level training.

SEAMOR Mako and Chinook; modular, field-reconfigurable observation platforms with swappable payload modules. ROVTECH Valor; Digital-Class observation with high-bandwidth comms for multi-camera HD and richer sensor streams. EPRONS; mini, micro and compact observation systems for accessible procurement, fleet expansion and training. OCEAN ROBOTICS; a broad range of observation vehicles, single-operator-deployable through to light work-class, with light custom builds available against a mission spec.

We typically quote two of the four on any observation enquiry so the operator sees the trade-off in writing before committing.

If the mission needs heavy sensor payloads, deep depth ratings or tooling-led intervention, observation-class is the wrong starting point. For light intervention and manipulator work we step the conversation to Ocean Robotics’ larger variants. For heavy work-class spreads we route to the brokerage desk and the secondary market.

FAQ

Common questions

SEAMOR Mako and Chinook, the ROVTECH Valor (Digital-Class), the EPRONS compact range and the OCEAN ROBOTICS observation range. Four OEM partners, all formal distribution arrangements.

Same observation-class operational envelope; substantially higher comms bandwidth. The result is multi-camera HD and richer sensor streams on a compact platform.

Yes. On the SEAMOR (modular payload modules) and ROVTECH Valor (high bandwidth tether) the sensor envelope is generous. On EPRONS mini and micro systems and the smaller OCEAN ROBOTICS vehicles it depends more on the specific build, payload allowance can often be extended with added buoyancy, but as standard the envelope tends to be tighter.

Depends; configuration and third party accessory requirement is the typical factor in any ROV system lead time. Contact us to find out.
